Kolkata Taxi Driver Returns Rs.6 Lakh Left In His Taxi
Bideswar Saw, a cab driver in Kolkata returned Rs. 6 lakh to the police on Tuesday. The amount the cab driver wanted to return in the police station belonged to a passenger of his, whom he had dropped at Rajabazaar area.
The officers in the police station were awestruck at the honesty of the 52-year-old man who returned a leather bag, knowing there was Rs. 6 lakh inside it.
It is reported that the Bideshwar noticed a black leather bag in the backseat of the cab, after the passenger got down at Rajabazaar area.
According to police the cab driver did not open the bag until evening, after which he immediately went to the police station on seeing the cash which was inside the bag.
I waited at the spot for 10 minutes, hoping the man would return. When he did not return, I kept the bag with me without opening it. In the evening, before going home, I thought I should go back to the same spot to look for the man but before that I opened the bag to check its contents. When I saw the notes I went straight to the police station,” Bideshwar said.
The police then contacted the concerned area police station to find out if there was any complaint of missing money. On knowing that a man had lodged a complaint, they called him to the station to hand over the bag in front of the cab driver.
