[Trailer] ‘Posto’, Another Emotional Rollercoaster From The House Of Shiboprosad And Nandita
Expectations soar every time the Bela Seshe filmmakers announce their new project. So, when the official trailer of the upcoming Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy’s film Posto was released recently, it was obvious the fans would be excited.
Mukhopadhyay, who loves all things Bengali, unveiled the trailer of the Bengali film on Poila Baisakh, the beginning of the Bengali New Year.
The 2.54-minute trailer gives us a quick glimpse of the storyline of Posto.
Posto is undoubtedly one of Bengalis’ most loved dishes. However, the trailer tells a different story. Here Posto is the name of the kid around which the film revolves.
The director-duo, who has churned out blockbusters such as Ichche, Bela Seshe and Praktan, has always given prominence to Bengali middle-class sentiments. This time too, it’s no different.
If Bela Seshe was about silver separation (divorce among couples after the age of 60), Posto highlights the issues of co-parenting and parenting in today’s age.
The trailer gives us a sneak peek into the innocent world of Posto, who has to take an important decision early in his life: should he stay with his biological parents or continue to live with his grandparents.
Child artiste Argha Basu Roy plays the titular role in the film. Soumitra Chatterjee and Lily Chakraborty, who have earlier acted in Kanch Kata Heere and Shakha Proshakha, will be seen playing the role of Posto’s grandparents here. It’s important to mention here that veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee has become a regular face in Shiboprosad and Nandita’s film.
Jisshu and Mimi will be seen playing Posto’s biological parents. This is the first time the two actors have been roped in by Shiboprosad for a film. It’s refreshing to watch Mimi in a role of a mother. The actress, who is mostly seen in hardcore commercial films, didn’t think twice before saying yes to this role. And we do like the pairing of Jisshu and Mimi.
However, this isn’t the first time the director-duo has worked with kids. Their 2014 film, Ramdhanu, revolved around kids and their school admission procedure.
The trailer of Posto also gives us a glimpse of powerful actors Paran Bandopadhyay and Sohini Sengupta, both playing lawyers in the film. It would be interesting to watch how the drama inside the court unfolds.
After Bela Seshe, the director-duo returned to Tagore’s abode again to shoot major portions of the film.
Shiboprosad likes working with the same team. Just like Bela Seshe and Praktan, this film too has music composers Anupam Roy and Anindya Chattopadhyay on board. Gopi Bhagat, the cinematographer of Shiboprosad’s earlier films, again takes charge of photography.
In a film industry where hit directors churn out films like a factory, here’s a director-duo who works on a subject for more than a year. Almost all their films (read Alik Sukh, Ramdhanu, Bela Seshe and Praktan) have released during summer holidays. This year too, the ritual continues.
See you in theatres on May 12.
